Your goals, vision, and passion should be directly reflected in your branding materials. As any entrepreneur knows, tightening those details to be clear, concise and consistent takes time… and a lot of mental energy.

Especially in the “where do I even start” stage, rambling and routine brain dumps will be your best friend. Don’t try and get it right the first time or overthink it- just start writing! Grab a glass of wine, silence your phone, and give yourself time to tease out the information.

The questions below will help jog your brain. Either answer all of the questions or choose the 5 bullet points that feel easiest to answer. If you’re truly being open and letting your thoughts flow, they should all feel easy to answer.

  • What is the need that you exist to satisfy? How will you satisfy that need?
  • Who is your ideal client? What about them makes them a perfect fit to work with you? Are they successful but unsatisfied? Are they going through the motions in life? Do they lack an understanding of the “big picture”?
  • How will you encourage your clients to be coachable individuals?
  • What kind of impact will working with you have on a client? In what ways will someone notice change when working with you?
  • In what ways will you be of value to your clients? A support system? A reality check? A wake up call? An encouragement? A strategist?
  • What makes you unique as a coach? What do you have that your competition does not?
  • List 3-5 principles that will guide your offerings.
  • How do you get people beyond talking about positive change and on to see real changes in their life? How do you create lasting change in the lives of your clients?
  • What does success look like for you in this business? At what point will you feel accomplished?
  • What’s the most important thing you want clients to know about working with you?
  • What’s the most important thing you want clients to know about themselves? They have options? They are powerful? There is always untapped potential?
  • Keep writing whatever else you’d like to beyond this- the more the merrier!

Write about your business like you are jotting a journal entry. The stakes are low and the resulting document is somewhat beside the point… ultimately the mental exercise of working through your ideas is what will be of most value to you.
